The Director General about the past year

2024 has been a year of both challenges and opportunities. We find ourselves in a security policy situation that requires increased preparedness, a climate crisis that affects the whole of society, and global competition where technological shifts are accelerating. At the same time, Sweden has a strong position – but we need to step up.

During the year, we have identified strategic technology areas to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness, deepened international collaborations and mobilized around innovations that can meet our greatest societal challenges. By investing in research, new technology and collaboration, we create the conditions for a sustainable and secure future.
