EUREKA ITEA Call 2022 – Software intensive systems and services

ITEA is an innovation cluster for software-intensive systems and services. The cluster is part of EUREKA where generic technologies of great importance for European competitiveness are developed. With this offer, we want to support projects with players along the entire value chain within software-intensive systems and services. The areas of application may come, for example, from the automotive sector, medical technology, internet services, the security industry, the production area or the software development area itself.

What can you apply for?

International collaboration in project focusing on software-intensive systems and services. The purpose is to develop solutions that can drive innovation in virtually all areas in which ITEA makes investments.

Who can apply?

Research organizations or industrial consortia consisting of at least two independent organizations in at least two EUREKA countries. At least one Swedish SME company must participate. Proposal submitted to ITEA.

How much can you apply for?

Vinnova finances a maximum of 50 percent of the project´s eligible costs. We finance up to a maximum of SEK 15 million per project. The projects generally run over three years.

What is the offer about?

With this the offer, we want to support project with partners along the entire value chain within software-intensive systems and services. The areas of application can come, for example, from the automotive sector, medical technology, internet services, the security industry, the production area or the area of software development itself.

In order to receive funding, the results must be relevant to the competitiveness of Swedish industry. Expected results of the projects are, for example, prototypes and demonstrators of interest to potential customers in an international market. For a successful larger application for national funding to Vinnova, industry wide challenges and participation from both major companies, SMEs and academia / research institutes is normally required. At least one Swedish SME company, with a Swedish place of business, must participate.

The ITEA Office offers support during the consortium building and, for example, organizes the ITEA - Project Preparation Days where there is the opportunity to pitch ideas and discuss them with potential partners.

Currently ongoing and previous ITEA projects

Vinnova has so far co-financed around 50 ongoing and previous projects within Eureka clusters. Among the Swedish project participants you will find, among others, ABB, Ericsson, Volvo, Saab, KTH, RISE and many more. ITEA gives you the opportunity for innovation and cooperation with many of Europe's best companies.

What is ITEA?

ITEA is an innovation cluster for software-intensive systems and services. ITEA is a part of the innovation network EUREKA where generic technologies of great importance for the participating countries’ competitiveness are developed.
Most projects within the EUREKA clusters are public-private partnerships with broad industrial participation, aimed at promoting applied research and innovation or encouraging standardization processes.

The application process in several steps

The application process for ITEA takes place in several steps as below.

First, the international consortium submits a first sketch, a so-called Project Outline, to ITEA (not to Vinnova).

The sketches that are considered to have the greatest potential are given the opportunity to submit a complete application. When ITEA sends out information about which project proposals will be able to submit a complete application, feedback is also given on how you can improve the application.

The complete application from the international consortium is assessed and the applications that are approved receive a so-called label. This means that the national consortia are given the opportunity to submit applications to each country's funding authority. It is at this stage that the Swedish consortium is invited to submit an application to Vinnova.

Based on your applications, to both ITEA and Vinnova, as well as a potential project interview, Vinnova makes a final assessment of whether or not you will receive funding.

The application is made on the ITEA website. You are welcome to contact both Vinnova and ITEA to discuss your project and your budget before submitting your application.
