Viktiga resultat som projektet gav
The research in the project demonstrates what aspects of aircraft design must be accounted for when generating and evaluating concepts for thermal management systems. Aspects from the operational level, aircraft level, subsystem, and component level have been accounted for. The work also provides recommendations for system model fidelity at the early concept phase.
Långsiktiga effekter som förväntas
The frameworks from Paper 1, 2 - concept generation and evaluation will be applied and tested in a Saab project in Q3 of 2024. The recommendations from Paper 3,4 (still underway) - concept modelling and simulation will be applied and tested in a Saab project in Q3 of 2024.
Upplägg och genomförande
Paper 1 & 2: data was obtained through literature review and qualitative retrospective data collection to create frameworks. Paper 3 & 4: data was obtained through quantitative retrospective data collection and used to create cooling system models for a military aircraft that are simulated for required aircraft operations.
