Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Projektet Young INFRA Academy meets the researchers´ aim has been to create interest in innovation and improve the supply of skills in transport infrastructure by allowing high school students to get in touch with business representatives and researchers within the framework of high school work. The goal of establishing a well-documented model, including organization, has been achieved, which means that in the future, upper secondary school work can be carried out at industry companies with support from researchers from relevant institutions.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The contact between school and business has stimulated students´ interest in various issues related to transport infrastructure. More time and follow-up would be required to see if they further their education in the field. Both teachers and students have been inspired by the realistic issues and the contact with the companies. The companies, in turn, have shown appreciation for new ideas. The quality of teaching has been raised through the visits of researchers who have taught scientific methods.

Approach and implementation

The largest identified project risk was the recruitment of companies. A steering group decision was included halfway - the recruitment was decided sufficiently successful and continued. Again, the recruitment of companies is concluded the most resource-intensive and the main problem if YIA is to be an ongoing activity. Companies and schools from the pilot project had a steep learning curve and thus both reduced resource consumption and increased satisfaction. A longer commitment for participation was considered important in the scheme and will be important for ongoing activities.
