Important results from the project

The project aimed to create an interdisciplinary research environment to establish a new competence centre in collaboration with industry partners, labour market organizations, and research and higher education institutions. The goal was to build a consortium strongly addressing the industry´s knowledge needs and submit a successful application to Vinnova. The goal was achieved by submitting a compelling application under the Sustainable Industry call.

Expected long term effects

The project has yielded significant results, including identifying challenges for a sustainable industry. These results encompassed 1) the successful submission of an application for a new competence centre, 2) the establishment of a consortium comprising 29 organizations (12 industries), and 3) the publication of the project’s findings in a report. Looking ahead, the competence centre, if approved, will contribute to enhancing Swedish industries’ competence supply and social sustainability.

Approach and implementation

The project comprised a Delphi study to gather insights from a panel of experts on the challenges related to the ambition to develop a socially sustainable, competitive, and green industry subjected to an accelerating pace of change. The experts had strategic functions that could provide perspectives from industry, labour market organisations, the public sector, and research and higher education. The data was collected in workshops, interviews, individual meetings, and surveys.
