Project duration December 2012 - November 2014
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The original idea was to perform a robust power supply for sensors on rotating surfaces to increase durability and reduce maintenance cost. In the project, the technology was assumed to be verified. This has been performed and the expected distance between the primary and secondary coils in índustrial applications is < 20 mm which leads to a small power loss. The productification has been more delayed than originally expected. The approached customer understand the situation and the first installation will be performed during 2016.

Expected long term effects

The WPS technology meets the requested prestanda and now long-term tests in industrial applications will be the next step before the commercial phase. The commercial phase will be performed together with StoraEnso, Holmen Paper and Valmet. Their pilot applications will open for other applications in harsh environments as well at the same time as robust WPS- technology can be applied in other applications related to the consument market.

Approach and implementation

The original idea for the WPS technology has been verified. The target power output 100 W and 0.5-1 kW for charge paddles are reached. Optimal selected frequency 85 kHz. Coil design performed and tested, see attachment. Transmitter design performed and tested, see attachment. Theory and operation assured and verified in Matemathica progr. The circuit has been CADed o PCB and manufactured. Next step: Verify equipment for 3.5 kW. Two prototypes manufactured, see attachment.
