Important results from the project

The goal with ”Water in a box” was to evaluate and demonstrate a prototype of Millennium Desalination Device (MDD), a desalination device that is developed by the company Millennium Technology of Sweden (MTS). The vision was to achieve a flexible, mobile and solar power driven solution for production of drinking water. The project period was May 2017 until April 2019. A substantial part of the project goal has been achieved during the project period. The project has generated several important experiences that will be further developed in future projects.

Expected long term effects

The project established a number of goals that mainly have been achieved. A business model has been developed and a desalination device has been developed, evaluated and demonstrated for external stakeholders. The conducted tests of the device have shown that the technology shows great potential to achieve a sufficient level of desalination.

Approach and implementation

The project has been conducted in four different work packages, where different project partners have been involved. The composition of the work packages has proven to be successful, since this lead to increased focus on the separate project goals. The project partners from the different work packages have met on a regular basis to ensure knowledge transfer between the different areas.
