Important results from the project
Our purpose was to develop a working prototype of Knee brace which is Smart, IOT (cloud) connected device. the purpose of walkbly brace is to perform remote rehabilitation for arthritis patients by correcting the flexion and abduction of knee joints. Walkably enables a concept of smart healthy life taking advantage of future technologies, it measures the pressure and inertial movement of knee joint.
Expected long term effects
Walkably is aimed to rehabilitate the gait disturbance by correcting the flexion and abduction of knee joint, swing and stance of walking pattern to result in reducing pain. It reduces the risk of falling by active bio feedback mechanism that supports the patient to overcome the fears of fall.
Approach and implementation
There is no cure for knee disturbed joints (Osteoarthritis OA) a chronic condition. Anyone who overuses joints: elderly, athletes, military, or people in physically demanding jobs, are more susceptible to develop this disease as they age. We in this project have developed a smart IOT knee brace (KnaStod) to analyze the irregular movement of knee joint movement & rehabilitate the joint disturbance by correcting the flexion and abduction of joint. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of falling by active bio feedback and supports the patients to overcome the fears of fall.
