Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to start norm-critical innovation processes with young people in grassroots organizations (in suburban and rural areas) and public service employees to create a more inclusive public service (PS). The goal has been to start local media labs and conduct meetings with these two target groups, as well as develop methods and tools for producing productions with norm-critical perspectives. Altogether, some 60 meetings have been held and three concrete methods have been developed. Today, there are five out of six local media labs active in four regions.

Expected long term effects

Grassroots organizations have coordinated themselves in a national network and acted to influence PS in a more inclusive direction. Over 500 young people have participated in the activities, 250 productions have been published in social and traditional media and reached half a million people. The project has shown how PS can become more co-creative through the co-production #Ivote. This innovation is an example of how the result can be better if you produce in new ways with new target groups. The project has mirrored PS´s opportunities and challenges in creating a more inclusive culture

Approach and implementation

In general we have followed the plan and structure of the project proposal. Year 1 was focused on network building, year 2 on meetings between the target groups and year 3 on production and a platform for publishing norm-creative media productions. Some things have changed during the course of the project, e.g. the emergence and establishment of the local media labs that did not become as schematic as we imagined due to local circumstances and local funding that we needed to take into account. Furthermore both parties intend to continue to find new norm-critical forms of cooperation.
