Important results from the project
Viametrics has created algorithms based on 3D-technology with FOI to identify, track and count visitors in a store. The algorithms can determine among other things if the visitor is a man or a woman, separate carts from people and measure zones or places to discover how many visitors are passing by ( flows of people and general queue times ).
Expected long term effects
Viametrics has created algorithms based on 3D-technology with FOI to identify, track and count visitors in a store. The work with launching a commercial product based on these algorithms is started and Viametrics still anticipates a success. This is happening right now with the help of newly hired computer vision analysts which is an example of competence being transfered inhouse.
Approach and implementation
The cooperation with FOI to transfer competence to the company and at the same time receive deliverables with high quality has worked very well. It is hard in development projects to plan far ahead in the future and therefore all participants has been agile to follow changes in the market which has meant a great deal for the final results. The purpose and objectives of the project however remains unchanged and Viametrics has the same focus now as before. The research parts of the project and the transfer of competence in-house could probably never been realized without the support of Vinnova.
