Important results from the project

"Visible toegether" is a method development project to examine how, together with young new arrivals and young people from Tjörn, can change and influence attitudes. The project docks at Egnahemsfabrik´s business and the group has documented the work at Egnahemsfabriken in text, variable picture and photo. The young people have mainly served as ambassadors and creative engine. The youth group consisted of girls and boys, half from Tjörn and half newcomers / unaccompanied. One important goal that has been met was to create cohesion through a joint effort.

Expected long term effects

Through the young people´s efforts in the form of construction, documentation and involvement, the project has made Egnahemsfabriken visible in the local community, and at the same time created important links between young newly arrived and pond youth. It has become clear that much can be achieved in the form of integration, self-confidence for the participants and social development, through joint practical work. The project has given new contact areas, anchoring and a method for social sustainability and future projects with young people.

Approach and implementation

The tasks of the young people were to carve, plant, prepare cultivation lots, clean, paint, sew and to build on Egnahemsfabrik´s first Attefallshus during three summer weeks. The project also included documenting Egnahemsfabrik´s activities, pictures that were exhibited at a final opening. One goal was also to give the participants new knowledge, via workshops with photographer, filmmaker and carpenter´s guide. Everything worked well despite some language confusion and the goal of creating integration through creative work was fulfilled.
