Important results from the project

Many International organisations operate in emergencies areas, to which they send their employees without being assessed for suitability for such an assignment or receive a training before deployment. We believe there are great gains for the organisations to either assess or train people before deployment by simulating the emergencies with Virtual Reality technology. The qualitative and quantitative results shows that there is interest for both a product in assessment as well as for training. However, we believe that a training tool has a greater potential as of today.

Expected long term effects

The result shows that the Organisations consider that the product both offer a good solution to a challenging situation, has a relevant content at an adequate price for the Organisations. During the market research a greater potential has proven to be within the training area, prior to an emergency assignment and within gender and diversity. A training using the VR technology improves the learning as the situation is perceived as real. Simulating situations is critical in a sensitivity training for gender- and diversity questions or for emergency environments and is cost efficient.

Approach and implementation

We have collected quantitive data through questionnaires sent to a wide-spread of people within HR/training/humanitarian aid within the International sector. Qualitative methods through interviewing potential customers, experts within humanitarian aid, psychologists and VR-specialists and gender-specialists, visited technical fairs, studies of relevant reports and articles. The data collection has served as the basis for the SWOT- and final analysis. The analysis concluded the business potential and directed the development of the specification of the product.
