Important results from the project

The City of Gothenburg and Visual Arena at Lindholmen Science Park saw the opportunity to create a test bed that is linked to the city´s digital twin Virtual Gothenburg. The objective of the Virtual Gothenburg Lab preparation project was to investigate the prerequisites for starting an implementation project, with the goal of creating an open and accessible test bed for test and development of way of work with Gothenburg City´s challenges and development, with the support of Virtual Gothenburg.

Expected long term effects

The result is that 20 parties have gathered around an application for an implementation project where the City of Gothenburg and Visual Arena at Lindholmen Science Park are test bed developers. In order to increase the city´s innovation capacity and power of change, Virtual Gothenburg Lab creates an opportunity to test and develop working methods, tools and methods for visual, digital and virtual work. Expected effects are improved conditions for analysis, insight, planning, decision-making, learning, communication, co-creation and participation.

Approach and implementation

We have worked with parties from academia, business and the public sector to understand needs and driving forces from multiple perspectives, both as testers and partly as developers and providers of test bed functions. Based on meetings, workshops and discussions with the steering and reference group, as well as study visits, information has been gathered about testers, infrastructure, processes and competences that may be needed to offer desirable test bed functionality. The procedure has provided a broad and thorough basis for an application for an implementation project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
