Important results from the project
Goal: Strategic co-ordination and joint development of real-time driving simulation competence and resources (people, tools, methods) for efficient and extended use. Platform established for co-operation, knowledge transfer and experience exchange. ViP provides tools, methods and open compatible software for development of future vehicles and infrastructure. Tool chains, compatibility, standards. Obvious method in product development integrated in companies´ internal work. Increased involvement of academia. Electrification and public transport applications.
Expected long term effects
Driving simulation demanded and steadily increasing in product development, model-based innovation, academic education (competence of the future) and research. Open software platform available. Simulators are established and ViP developed methods and software are implemented/used outside ViP. Joint development of tool chains for easy and fast transfer between test environments (lab-simulator-track) and between simulators. Extended use of driving simulation, and ViP platform, by use-cases in electrification and public transport. ViP part of international context.
Approach and implementation
Meetings and interaction between parties, project and management teams, in creative and problem-solving atmosphere - crucial prerequisite for a successful centre. Projects: varying needs, ideas, competences are merged to useful results for all. Workshops: knowledge transfer, experience exchange, results sharing, input from around. Hub for networking, project generation and discussions of the development of ViP. Demos: experience and test of, feedback on developed scenarios, vehicle functions, road design, tools. Information channels: homepage, News, report series.
