Important results from the project

Through the project, research results and knowledge assets from LiU have been evaluated, verified, and validated with regard to commercial utilization, reducing risks and creating a foundation for advancing business ideas under the right conditions. A concrete result of this is that 15 of the supported ideas have been turned into companies. The project has also contributed to attracting and inspiring students and researchers to become entrepreneurs and strengthen their skills.

Expected long term effects

By transforming research and other knowledge assets into practical new products, services, and companies and making them accessible to industry and the public, the project is expected to contribute long-term to addressing societal challenges, creating jobs, and driving economic growth. Increased collaboration between academia and industry through the networks established inspires and trains researchers and students to identify practical applications that address real needs in society.

Approach and implementation

The project followed the project plan and met the needs of the idea owners by providing support through a series of step-by-step verification and validation efforts. These efforts have strengthened the understanding of customer and market needs, secured necessary IP protection, and matched teams with new expertise. Adjustments have been made to the VFT process to better meet the idea owners’ needs and ability to track results, with a particular focus on accommodating the need for entrepreneurs.
