Purpose and goal

The goal is to promote the utilization of research-based knowledge from the University of Gothenburg to increase implementation of sustainable solutions in society. The VFT program is therefore an important tool for the Innovation Office´s active work to verify, refine and expose ideas and knowledge from the entire University of Gothenburg, in order to contribute to value creation and collaboration around research-based knowledge and its impact in the surrounding society, through various approaches that utilization can take.

Expected effects and result

The VFT program contributes to raise the level of competence and the ability to utilize research-based knowledge within the Innovation Office and its core operations. The VFT-program promotes the development of verifiable ideas within the University´s various faculties and departments and the program leads to an increased number of new companies, stronger collaborations between researchers and other parties in business, the public sector and non-profit organizations. This strengthens the innovation support system and brings new ideas and needs back to academic research.

Planned approach and implementation

The Research and Innovation Office at the University of Gothenburg collaborates with GU Ventures, to provide direct and concrete feedback to all ideas, which contributes to a broad competence base and experience in many areas, from idea generation to business development. We continuously develop and adapt the process to streamline the use of VFT funds in the verification of different ideas. We apply an iterative approach to support verification activities that reduce risks and prepare the idea for further development by the idea provider or other parties.
