Important results from the project

The project developed a wooden modular concept that can be put together to build elevated active mobility infrastructure. Structural calculations using the Eurocodes as a design basis have been independently reviewed, confirming their soundness. They have been further expanded and refined using digital tools (FEM-based). Having assembled and structurally tested several of the modules key components, the project confirmed its feasibility while identifying areas for further development. The results have been valorised in a patent application and in our continued development.

Expected long term effects

The theoretical parts of the project (design, calculation and review as well as optimization) went in accordance with the project plan. The establishment of a supply chain and quality control also went well despite some challenges coupled to the inflation and price pressure on timber products. The result is a strong design basis for the manufacture and sale of modular wooden bridges for active mobility traffic with less climate impact and high material efficiency.

Approach and implementation

The project has been developed through 3 work packages: - AP1: Design and structural calculations - AP2: Optimization - AP3: Construction of prototype and structural testing

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
