Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to provide tools and knowledge to HR and managers in order to prevent and provide support for mental illness in the workplace. During the project, more than 5,000 HR experts and managers in more than 220 municipalities and all 21 regions were given tools and knowledge about detecting and preventing mental illness as a result of risk factors during the pandemic.

Expected long term effects

We expect that Värna will have a positive impact on HR’s and managers ability to prevent and manage mental illness and sick leave among employees. In Värna, academic research has been translated into preferred formats for the target groups (managers and HR). The tools and knowledge have been widely spread and received positive feedback for the target groups. Participants have multiplied the impact of Värna through continous spreading of the tools and knowledge witin their respective municipality or region.

Approach and implementation

In the first phase of the project we interviewed around 40 researchers and many municipalities and regions. In the second phase we developed and adapted tools and knowledge to the target groups (HR experts and managers). Lastly the tools and knowledge were spread to the intended target groups. “Värna” did not turn out to be exactly as we had excepted since it was adapted and improved based on the helpful dialogue with the intended target groups. Through this we were able to better adapt the format and packaging of ”Värna” to the target groups needs.
