Important results from the project

Panprices is the world’s first global shopping service which offers an easy and secure one-stop solution for purchasing products from abroad. E-commerce in the last 5 years has changed massively. Consumption has risen and with the environmental challenges we are phasing today it is no longer enough to focus solely on price. With our project ValueLabelling, we took on the challenge of re-designing the very core of e-commerce with a focus on sustainability and aimed at nudging consumers into making more sustainable purchasing decisions by providing more transparency.

Expected long term effects

Through the project ValueLabelling, we hope to educate consumers and create awareness around the environmental impacts of consumption as well as empower them with additional information beyond price. In the form of ValueLabels, we easily visualize those impacts and highlight products that are causing less harm to the environment due to production, shipping modalities as well as longer product life cycles among other things. Consumers get to make their purchase decision not only based on the price but with a much broader understanding of the true costs of a product.

Approach and implementation

Thorough investigation of the impacts of shopping as well as extensive user research has enabled us to gain a better understanding of the current impacts of consumption, where we would want it to be, what is possible to implement, and what consumers are asking for. Based on quantifiability, effectiveness and user preference, we have chosen different aspects to be highlighted with our ValueLabels. As of today, five ValueLabels have been defined and are currently in the testing phase with users. We look forward to continuously develop and improve this project.
