Important results from the project
We have built a Covid-adapted chapel. Andrum have been used for ceremonial use every week. The room works for ritual gatherings, is easy to assemble and is beautiful. The chapel connects to tradition and cultural heritage. Andrum is located between the medieval church and the Viking oak garden. The surrounding agricultural landscape casts its shadow and forms a play of light on the ceiling. A positive side effect is that people actively seek out Andrum. We have created a modern church that has become relevant during the pandemic, as a meditation place, recreation and tourist destination.
Expected long term effects
We have created a room for ceremonies, but it has also been used in a way we did not expect. It has been used for meditation, teaching as a tourist destination and recreation. The chapel has aroused great interest. We have had an impact in local, regional and international media. The ambition was to build several chapels in different places, but the decision-making structure and control to make quick decisions was lacking among the stakeholders. We made a chapel for 50 people, this quickly became obsolete, when the authorities came up with new directives.
Approach and implementation
The need was urgent and the chapel was built in record time. We have spread it in newspapers, social media, radio and television. Both nationally and internationally. We have evaluated how they have worked in practice. Over time, Andrum has developed with new lighting. Our analysis is that a strong sales and marketing organization would have been needed to reach out to potential customers. There has been great interest from prospective stakeholders, but the decision-making structure and control to make quick decisions has been lacking.
