Important results from the project
The main purpose to increase the utilization of patient innovations in health care, strengthen the individual´s power and strengthening networks within the existing innovation systems have in most part been met. The project has focused on developing support structure for capturing, developing and disseminating patient innovations. The support system for handling and testing ideas has been adapted and new arenas for dissemination identified. Judicial and financial pre-conditions have been established. Collaborations with the support system need to be further developed.
Expected long term effects
To strengthen patient power and involvement in their own care, can also change the power structures in health care. This cultural change can lead to more innovations used in health care and an increased growth. A user representative has been present throughout the project in order to strengthen patient focus. Activities have been carried out in cooperation with patient-organizations and owners of the ideas. Daily healthcare operations as stakeholders have shown great commitment and enthusiasm for patients’ contribution in development work. We can already see effects of the project.
Approach and implementation
The project went according to plan. Promotion materials and the electronic platform idéplats.se have been adjusted to be suitable for receiving patient ideas. Different arenas were tested to reach patients, with personal meetings, mailings, advertising, social media and creative venues we met patients and spread ideas. Pin pointed competence and focus groups for expertise support helped to adapt methods and techniques for patient ideas. The project developed through follow-up and project meetings. Cooperation has strengthened both internally and with external environments.
