Important results from the project

The overall goal has been ‘Higher and sustainable growth in the region’s life sciences sector.’ In particular, priority has been given to action areas and activities that ensure that Uppsala BIO maintains a dialogue with companies, investors and the innovation support systems in order to be able to react to opportunities and obstacles. This include start-ups and expansions, and overcoming growth barriers such as financing or competence provision issues, as well as cutbacks that affect the region.

Expected long term effects

Uppsala BIO have during the period continued to act on identified needs from the different actors in the ecosystem. For example by deepened and collaboration with innovation players in East Middle Sweden, by developing new collaboration interfaces in Uppsala Business park, by creating a new education to secure competence provision, and to further develop the methodology BIO-X for use within Testa Center for project preparation, coaching and selection in order to increase value in early-stage projects and SMEs.

Approach and implementation

Uppsala BIO has delivered both at strategic and operational level during the period. Three more significant new operational efforts started in the fall of 2017 and since then Uppsala BIO has been responsible for establishing all external processes at the international and national testbed Testa Center; 2) responsible for the pilot project Conextion for developing new collaboration forms to companies in Uppsala Business Park, as well as; 3) worked for clearer rules and processes for introduction of digital services and products in healthcare.
