Important results from the project
Through improved situational awareness and documentation, the solution will increase safety, primarily for police and first responders. The drone will be very small and light, which makes it safe for the user and useful in many contexts. It poses such a low ground risk that third partiescan be overflown. The drone will also have a high degree of autonomy, which makes it useful even without specially assigned personnel.
Expected long term effects
The TYRA project entails the opportunity to always have access to an eye in the sky for documentation and to provide information to the command center in real time. Through improved situational awareness, improved risk assessment can be made, and reinforcement can be coordinated. The documentation can be used directly or as support for investigation, evaluation and training.
Approach and implementation
The TYRA project is divided into four work packages: Project management; User needs and evaluation; Drone development and control; and Demonstration. The Swedish Police will specify requirements for the project. The technical solutions are provided by the Swedisch Defence Research Agency (FOI) and RISE
