Important results from the project
This Vinnmer fellowship aimed to support my to relocation to the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, while maintaining an active collaboration with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA.
Expected long term effects
The fellowship enabled my relocation to the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit at Karolinska Institutet, while maintaining a strong collaboration with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, MD, USA (NICHD). The grant has enabled research and research collaborations that have resulted in more than 15 scientific publications on growth and skeletal disorders including the finding and characterization of Aggrecan deficiency as a new short stature syndrome.
Approach and implementation
The Vinnmer fellowship allowed me more academic freedom to develop collaborations and research projects and therefore provided me with an outstanding scientific opportunity. This opportunity did, without a doubt, lead to increased international collaboration, exposure, and recognition, as well as advanced my career including receiving a broader platform and a more secure position.
