Important results from the project
The purpose was to develop a service that improves the building permit process for the citizen, businesses and the permit offices and to identify and meet the foremost needs on the market. For this purpose the project developed the platform "Arch" which is a visualisation tool with wich the users can test different building ideas and be guided through the process of developing a building permit. Several tests and demonstrations were done and large savings in time and resources is confirmed. The stakeholders has moreover been identified as citizens, businesses and the muncipality.
Expected long term effects
The project performed stakeholder analysis, evaluated graphics engines and developed use cases and user experiences. From this "Arch" was developed and demonstrations were held with users. It was shown that the most effective way of increasing quality of building permit applications was to involve the applicant deeply in the process. With Arch the user can explore their building ideas, visualize it and get help and assistance if needed. The platform is expected tosave 50% in time and resources, increase rate of building with 25% and contribute to transparency and collaboration.
Approach and implementation
The project has been performed in 4 phases: 1. Plan and identify needs 2. Establish technical environment 3. Develop system functionality 4. Test and corrective actions The process was iterative after an initial process map and surveying of the permit process was established. Smaller workshops were conducted online because of the ongoing pandemic and interviews were done by phone or Teams which has worked well. An initially high testing and evaluation cycle left more time to prototype development and time to integrate and develop these into a functioning prototype.
