Important results from the project

The project aimed to increase the possibilities for densification and extended life of existing buildings with the help of vertical extensions, in light wooden structures. The project has generated new knowledge in the areas of technical solutions, process support and business models. Within the project, guidance on extension projects has been developed for actors in the wood value chain and conveyed to participating companies via seminars, workshops, concept studies and a digital platform.

Expected long term effects

The project aimed to increase collaboration between participating actors, which has also been achieved and can be seen in new collaborative projects between participating parties in practical extension projects. A Best Practice for extension projects has been produced in written form and is planned to be converted into content on a digital platform with the aim of spreading knowledge but also providing opportunities for networking and information sharing regarding extension projects.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out within nine work packages where study visits, workshops and seminars were planned to form a large part of the work. This implementation had to be partly changed due to restrictions linked to Corona. This has led to a partially changed project structure that is based more on individual interview studies but also the implementation of a concept study with a number of participating actors. This was carried out digitally and had a very good outcome.
