Important results from the project
With the help of our internal and external expertise, we investigated, reasoned, challenged and tested different materials and approaches to obtain new perspectives on norms with bearing on gender and power in forest contexts. We investigated with the help of external forestry actors whether there was a forestry norm and what it looked like. Thanks to the interest and involvement of the forestry actors, we were able to participate in a process where we reasoned, sought answers to the question of whether there is a forestry norm, how this norm Is related to gender.
Expected long term effects
Through the focus group meetings, we created curiosity and got together an actor composition that can continue to work for gender equality. We also produced results regarding views on norms with bearing on gender, power and forestry. Our focus group meetings provided several new perspectives on how we could continue to work to contribute to a more equal forest sector and to get more forest owners involved in contributing to environmental and production goals.
Approach and implementation
We investigated and tested what materials and methods were available to capture new angles of approach within the subject and minimize the risk of self-reinforcing norms. This exploration was initially tiring as the grip and process was unfamiliar. The recruitment of stakeholders and participants to the focus groups varied and gave different dividends depending on contact networks and geographical location. Both in the exploration of materials and methods, as well as the actual conduct of the focus group meetings with the prepared material was experienced as a rewarding process.
