Important results from the project
The purpose of TERAPI was to bring together international, experts and researchers to frame, coordinate, and submit a robust application for the HORIZON-CL6-2022-COMMUNITIES-02-02-two-stage call on ’Developing Nature Based Therapy (NBT) for Health and Wellbeing (HH&W-B)’. The project succeeded in the 1st stage application and submitted a full proposal. Despite pending final decision, the positive early expert reviews (2nd stage - right-to-reply) indicate that chances of financing are high
Expected long term effects
Besides the development and submission of a two-stage proposal responding to the Horizon call, TERAPI set up a transdisciplinary network of researchers and experts for understanding how NBT can influence HH&W-B. Expected effects include 1) the financing of a 4-year Horizon Europe project, 2) the delivery of NBT treatment within 13 labs, 3) the development of business models for greater uptake of NBT, and 4) the integration of health perspectives on planning and management of blue-green infrastructure.
Approach and implementation
Four tasks supported the elaboration of the proposal: 1) the development of a theoretical framework that underpins the relations between greenspace exposure, experience, and health outcomes; 2) the implementation of a Public Participation Geographic Information System online survey in Kvernevik, (NO); 3) the outline of composite measures to better analyse greenspace exposure and 4) the performance of 20 interviews with representatives of the healthcare sector from the Nordic countries (SE, NO, DE and FI) to uncover synergies and trade-offs of implementing NBT.
