Important results from the project

We have developed and tested the following 3 modules; The Child´s Plan has been designed focusing; - the child´s understanding of the supportive process, - the service staff feeling that they have all the information they need to support the child. The Support Coordinator is key in order to coordinate support. The assignment is formed to match the child´s needs & conditions. The Needs Compass uses an holistic approach on the child´s needs. It states a common terminology and is used to identify needs that previously have not been met by the Police, pre-school, school and/or Social Services.

Expected long term effects

In the project, staff have experienced that interprofessional meetings and workshops have led to increased cohesion and consensus regarding children´s needs and understanding of each other´s assignments and activities. Participating families describe that they feel listened to and that there are officials who make sure that they receive the right support and that it is perceived as an important support. Current state: 52 children repositioned to family homes, 725 notifications & 32 applications for support from social services, 4.5% primary school pupils with 20% absence or more.

Approach and implementation

Children, parents & staff have been interviewed and, through user journeys, described the child´s path to support. The result has been the starting point for the Child´s Plan & assignments for Support Coordinators. User journeys show that childrens´, guardians´ & officials view on previous support differs from one another. Concepts for assessment of children´s needs have been gathered to develop the Needs Compass. The user-driven approach includes service design, psychology and behavioral economics. Materials & assignments are still being tested and reshaped by the target group.
