Important results from the project
Objectives were achieved by establishing a collection model and developing new products from Swedish wool. The wool standard was revised and implemented alongside increased knowledge in the value chain. Companies across sectors expanded their use of Swedish wool, and more than 30 innovative prototypes were developed. The project also generated new partners, business models and climate data that strengthen wool’s competitiveness, and the results were widely shared.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to strengthen a circular and competitive Swedish wool industry through standardisation, value-chain efficiencies, increased knowledge and growing demand. New products, business models and climate data reinforce wool’s position. Tools developed in earlier projects will further support the use of Swedish wool. Policy work and industry outreach enable national scale-up, investment and a sustainable value chain.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out as planned with relevant activities in collection, standardisation, product development and sustainability analysis. The timeline was largely kept but extended slightly due to unforeseen reasons, and product development took longer than expected. New partners joined, strengthening the project’s scope. Strong collaboration across the entire value chain was a key success factor, and the wide range of developed products demonstrates the high quality of Swedish wool.
