Important results from the project

Last Mile Hack fulfilled its purpose and goals in enabling, supporting and developing new innovative and sustainable solutions within Last Mile. The event gathered participants with both national and international background with different perspectives, experiences and skills. 17 teams worked during the event on five challenges that were provided by the industry and presented 17 new ideas on solutions. In addition to solutions, a exchange of knowledge and new contacts were also created.

Expected long term effects

The Hackathon resulted in 17 new solutions for the industry. Several of these solutions have continued after the event. Some of the teams also have been given the opportunity to further develop their solution with the organizations that contributed the challenges. In addition to the solutions, the hackathon has helped spread to a new audience what Last Mile is and the challenges that are connected to the area and why they are crucial for a more sustainable logistics in the future. Contacts and networks across the industry as well as the country´s borders are yet another result.

Approach and implementation

Early in the process, we engaged a steering group with representatives from the industry and developed challenges together with companies and organizations. At the event, participants got to work for 36 hours in teams and got support through eight different workshops and lectures as well as individual support by coaches. All teams presented their idea to a jury. Overall, the event was appreciated, but information about the challenges could be published earlier and be more specific and that the participants could have received more time and support for the presentations.
