Venture Impact Innovation: Designing the places of the future for attractive, accessible and sustainable communities
Call Impact Innovation: Designing the places of the future for attractive, accessible and sustainable communities

Purpose and goal

The purpose is to mobilize, create commitment to a common and sustainable vision that gives positive energy and faith in the future in the village of Älghult. Goal 1) "to develop and test future prototypes in collaboration with the local community, designers, business, innovators and academia". Goal 2) is also to investigate ideas about what could reduce the number of unused properties, to get more houses and premises reused and to create conditions for strengthened residential attractiveness.

Expected effects and result

The result is concrete prototypes that are presented during Future Days, where participants get experience and contribute to the common vision. Visual illustrations are interspersed with staged and imagined future everyday life. Conversations are held between participants to make the picture more vivid and set the path for the next step – action.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is divided into four work packages, which for large parts of the process run in parallel. Initially, knowledge is compiled about needs and challenges in the community of Älghult. In the next phase, the focus is on mobilizing existing commitment and exploring the basis and future in a broad group. The process then enters a developing stage where needs and insights are translated into prototypes which are then developed in dialogue between designers, association and other actors.
