Important results from the project
Smakblomman´s aim and objective was to develop an educational tool that would give babies broad taste preferences already at an early age that is both sustainable, beneficial to health and climate-smart, and to give parents an educational tool to fulfill this. Smakblomman gave the parents access to recipes that met the goals and suggestions for sustainable and nutritious foods. According to the questionnaires that were completed after the end of the project period, the majority saw Smakblomman as a good and reliable supplement to the information that BVC distributes today.
Expected long term effects
The project developed a reliable method that could be implemented on more BVCs, but also on other platforms, e.g. preschools. In order for Smakblomman to reach its full potential and possibility of scalability, it needs to be fine-tuned somewhat based on the results we obtained, but the results showed that it is perceived as a very welcoming and valuable supplement to the information that is available today about first the tasting journey. Using BVC and the family center proved to be particularly important and successful as parents feel great trust and security on this platform.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out according to plan where the Smakblomman, recipe, handbook and other materials were produced. Training of staff was an important step to strengthen/safeguard the method and also to gain a greater understanding of how Smakblomman can be a good complement to what BVC already distributes. The first survey to parents gave important answers on where the knowledge gaps were and helped us understand where the focus should lie. The second survey also gave valuable answers that the design actually worked, at the same time pointed out what needs to be changed and improved.
