Project duration May 2024 - April 2026
Status Ongoing
Venture Advanced digitalization - Enabling technologies
Call Advanced and innovative digitalization 2024 - first call for proposals

Purpose and goal

To develop a digital platform that showcases the benefits of APS using digital twins and XR. The project aims to: 1-APS chamber advancement: Develop and create the digital twin of the beta APS chamber, without the need for a physical model, demonstrating a digital technology model in a relevant environment. 2-Digital platform advancement: Demonstrate that the digital twins can be integrated into external production set-up simulation software. Deliver an operational interactive platform that allows external stakeholders to experience the APS system virtually.

Expected effects and result

The consortium works with the digitalisation of the fundamentally new approach to chip manufacturing, which is expected to generate a new, industrially relevant knowledge base. The introduction of APS to the semiconductor market, supported by the digital platform created in this project, will lead to significant industrial impacts. This advancement is expected to decrease production costs by 35-45%. Additionally, it offers environmental benefits by halving power consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as reducing clean water usage by 50%.

Planned approach and implementation

The consortium will move along six work packages, implemented over 24 months. AlixLabs will lead the project and develop the actual digital twin prototypes with support from the qualified subcontractor Sekai. Nanovac will support the digital twin development and use the digital tools to advance the development of the beta prototype of the APS chamber. Imitera will be responsible for the XR arm of the project. All partners will participate in project management and dissemination activities.
