Testbed for wastewater treatment in Simrishamn

Important results from the project

The aim To find out the conditions and needs for a test bed concerning advanced wastewater treatment and circular water management. The system for removing pharmaceutical residues was inaugurated in May. The decision to further develop the test bed is based on information from 200 meetings, literature studies and workshops. The first four projects are booked for this autumn 2019. Met targets 1. The 3 analyses of the need and possibilities to start a test bed are summarized in a positive conclusion 2. Expected long term effects

The analysis from already existing test beds underlines: The importance of communication and clear framework To choose projects that fits in with our targets To make agreements that clearly describe responsibilities and costs for both parties respectively To build a culture based on trust and openness The market analysis shows a strong interest in the test bed. 150 people attended the inauguration and 4 projects are booked. Obstacles for innovators outside the current research and innovation system will be considered. The result is a project plan for the implementation phase.

Approach and implementation

Through interviews, study visits and literature studies, we have learned lessons from 15 existing test beds around communication, agreements, influencing laws and possible operating models. Researchers, companies and public officers were invited to workshops. These plus 200 visits with potential partners resulted in our market analysis. The gender equality analysis is based on a workshop led by the project manager for ”Jämställd regional tillväxt”. Together with a number of partners, we are now further developing the project plan for the implementation phase.
