Important results from the project

The prestudy´s aim has been to creare a basis to change the working environment of operators in the process industry in order to meet demands of the future. A central theme of such a basis is the conceptual notion of a configurable platform for weables. Further, the prestudy suggests an inclusive approach to development and prototyping that highlights engagement achieved through prototyping and evaluation in a realistic context through the use of so-called ´mini-plants´. The activities in the prestudy has led to a number of results. In addition to concrete sketches and prototypes (e.g. a ´mini-plant´) a number of conceptual perspectives has been articulated. Above all, the notion of ´Platform for configurable wearbles´ that aims to capture the idea of a modular and adaptable architecture for wearbles in the process industry. Also, by involving students, we opened of creative and unexpected contributions to the prestudy. Within the context of the prestudy, a number of activities have been conducted. Together with the textile oriented Soft Lab, a workshop was carried out on wearables and configurability. Also, a hackathon was carried out to create prototypes in a concentrated manner. Yet another activity has been to have students of human-computer interaction take on as assignment, a design oriented task formulated according to the directions of the prestudy. Also, an interview with SCA was conducted.
