Important results from the project
The project´s objective was to verify an internal work process, from customer order to delivery, for the production of chemical models using the ACR method. The purpose is to determine the cost of producing the product (man-time, calculation time, other resources) and to estimate the necessary level of competence. The goals were met in the form of a process was developed, resource calculations for several steps were made. An important conclusion, however, was that the scope of certain steps depends on the choice of fuel and application and will need to be calculated for individual cases.
Expected long term effects
The overall result in the form of a well-defined work process now enables a good estimate of resources for the development of our product, which will form the basis for planning the next expansion phase and investments. Optimization of the technical processes has resulted in us now being able to develop our product in a resource efficient way. Some aspects of the work process need to be explored further to give a concrete cost picture, but we have are ready to start working on real cases with a pilot customer.
Approach and implementation
The project implementation meant that an outline of a work process was first done and then carried out and evaluated one step at a time, which led to continuous improvements. An important aspect of the project plan was that the work process should be carried out by an external consultant, not previously involved in the project, to enable evaluation of a work process decoupled from the founders of the method and company. This could be accomplished in several steps in the process, but unfortunately the resources and time were not sufficient to work with all the steps in this way.
