Call Sustainable Port - System Demonstrator

Purpose and goal

Aims to validate and further develop a model for CO2 calculation in ports. The model will guide stakeholders in port operations and identify data for emissions calculations. Through the demonstrator, requirements from transport buyers and port actors will be understood to enable informed decisions about sustainable alternatives. The project will identify parameters for implementation in other ports, meet stakeholder requirements, and propose changes to regulations regarding CO2 monitoring.

Expected effects and result

Green nodes are central to creating sustainable transport solutions. This project aims to share data on CO2 emissions directly from the source, which strengthens the role of the green node. Through increased transparency, companies can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability, providing competitive advantages. Additionally, access to data enables better decision-making and collaboration within the industry, leading to more efficient resource use and compliance with environmental standards.

Planned approach and implementation

Concept development Prototype-based incremental development of the existing system solution Stakeholder interaction through Living Labs (approximately every two months) Validation of a CO2 calculation module (system solution from WP2) in an authentic environment Scaling up for dissemination to various target groups, including testing the model at Kvarken Ports Vasa.
