Important results from the project

The purpose goal of the design phase is to explore innovation capacity, solutions, policy obstacles and develop the partnership for implementation of a long-term sustainable and climate-neutral district for sustainable lifestyles. During the design phase, challenges, obstacles and opportunities have been explored. We have defined the Tomtebo strand System and what is crucial to get there. We have taken significant steps to develop Tomtebo strand into a system demonstrator and increased the degree of maturity for this.

Expected long term effects

The result of the design phase is a sharper system definition, what system change that can be acheived, what makes it a potential system demonstrator and what is required to get there: - The sustainable life puzzle and social sustainability as a central prerequisite - Developed models for organization, financing, implementation, and business in collaboration - Collaborative processes to test, learn and develop - System-optimized infrastructure and technology, enabling business models across silos and legal boundaries

Approach and implementation

The work during the design phase has been based on established processes and cooperation within Tomtebo strand, a close collaboration between nine actors: municipality, municipal companies and national construction companies. Ongoing working groups have been added with deepening processes. A system description has laid the foundation for defining central keys to develop a demonstrator and how this is different from a conventional city district.
