Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose of the project has been to facilitate and work to introduce a national standardized model for collecting and handling research samples that results in comparable, high-quality samples, called Healthcare Integrated Biobanking (SIB).
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The effect of a full-scale introduction of SIB can lead to Sweden being successful in biobanking for research and that a nationally harmonized process leads to more studies of better quality and enables more types of analyzes to be carried out on biobanked research samples. The standardized management also leads to reduced costs for both health care and the researcher who wishes to collect samples in a study.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project was carried out in a well-proven structure with a focus on coordination under the leadership of Biobank Sverige. During this year, 4 regions´ biobanks were included in the project Norrköping, Kalmar, Värmland and the Västra Götaland region which had 4 hospitals in the project, which implemented step 1 and biobank west which has implemented a step 3b which is about development of LIMS. The Project lasted for about 18 months and took longer than expected, which was due to the fact that the work was significantly delayed by the Corona pandemic.
