Important results from the project
Establish a national portal for interaction among people involved in industrial dimensional metrology. Secure well trained and competent technicians and engineers by modern education in metrology. Create new ideas on research and educational tasks fulfilling the industrial metrology needs.
Expected long term effects
The SIMET-forum actively contributes to networking between metrology competences in Sweden. Modern and up-to-date educational modules will be developed, and at project completion industry employees will benefit from the new courses. Later the educational material will be used at undergraduate studies. The research on optical scanning vs. coordinate measurement technique will end up in a Licentiate thesis and research reports will be issued on capability studies of NC-machines.
Approach and implementation
SIMET is operated by a management board and several working groups responsible for education, research, information and advertisement of industrial metrology. Analysis of industrial educational needs will be performed and e-learning courses will be developed by suitable SIMET-partners to fit these needs. Research will be performed by senior scientists and a PhD student. The web-site SIMET.SE will be launched, and advertisements will be directed towards industry as well as high schools.
