Important results from the project
The aim was to develop the Swedish platform ETP food for life, as a means to make use of the strong Swedish position in food science and industry in future H2020 activities. The overarching objective was to increase the engagement of Swedish actors in for a for impacting H2020 . This was partly achieved since Swedish activities increased, although mainly by already active organisations. The Swedish Food Federation has located one person in Brussels as a result of the project, as a means to increase the Swedish food industry´s possibilities.
Expected long term effects
Swedish actors in industry and academia have a better understanding of how H2020 works and how it can be influenced. This has led to lowered thresholds for participating in both advocacy work and H2020 projects. The project activities have increased the interfaces between actors in the food sector, which has contributed to the development of a new and more ambitious platform including the food supply chain. This platform will make use of the projects result in its future advocacy activities. A workshop with the European Commission was arranged and direct relations have been established.
Approach and implementation
An initial mapping of the H2020 systems was performed, including how it can be influenced. Swedish priorities were identified by workshops and surveys with food industry and academia. Information on the above was communicated broadly to industry and universities. A workshop in Brussels have been arranged where four Swedish food producing companies presented their perspectives for the commission. Two project participants have been active in the European ETP Food for life. Dialogues with other advocacy platforms have been active.
