Purpose and goal
Today, most things related to buildings and products can be eco-certified. There are strict requirements for buildings, but when it comes to the contents of buildings - the interiors - there are hardly any requirements at all. The lack of requirements and access to relevant information on the environmental impact of interiors makes it difficult for a business to make sustainable choices that contribute to long-term sustainable values. We want to change that, there are significant environmental gains to be made in terms of both CO2 emissions and waste by recycling furniture and products.
Expected effects and result
Our project is developing two parts: an environmental certification for premises and a digital tool to support long-term sustainable work with premises. The certification and the tool will help to change working methods, processes, and organization. This has great potential to influence corporate culture as well as values and norms, which in turn can influence values and norms outside the companies that use the certification. Through the broad project consortium, we are creating a system-level consensus on the complex issue of sustainability in relation to premises.
Planned approach and implementation
The work consists of 4 parts. In WP 1 we complete the documentation for the Hi certification by conducting several pilots. In WP 2, we agilely develop the digital tool "Hint" together with potential users. In WP 3, both the Hi certification and Hint are commercialized. An agreement with the certification partner is signed and the 6 pilots that participated in WP1 will be the first to be certified. Hint is corporatized and launched on the market. In WP 4, we work on communication and dissemination, and further develop the training material already produced for university level.
