Important results from the project
The project has met its objectives where the purpose to describe how to ensure higher efficiency throughout the costly maintenance cycle of a facility have been satisfactory. The different solutions and prototypes developed throughout the project are verified that they conform to the goals to increase cost efficiencies as well as resource efficiencies for the facility managers that digitalise their facilities. The goal to have requirements and description for a unified solution for the facility managers is also fulfilled.
Expected long term effects
The project has proved how BIM can be used to increase efficiency and sustainability in facility maintenance for both new built as well as older facilities. The project delivers specifications and prototypes for a unified solution that is verified by facility managers to ensure higher efficiency. We see business opportunities in how the project result also gains the facility management actors that are not fully digitalized where they also can make use of these effects and by their own needs and ability be able to gradually increase their level of digitalization and efficiency.
Approach and implementation
The project has been realized through 6 work packages where the first three was done in parallel and had the purpose to analyze information needs, strategy and hypotheses in cooperation with several facility managers. The last work packages had the purpose to design prototypes and requirements for a future solution but also to find partnerships for possible future development and realization of such solution. The project method to work in close cooperation with facility managers and actors in the industry have shown to be successful for the outcome and result.
