Purpose and goal
This feasibility study will investigate what actions can develop knowledge, acceptance, and interest in creating sustainable value chains for metallurgical biochar and aims to accelerate the green transition from fossil coal to biochar in the metallurgical industry. The goal is to increase the social acceptance of biochar, promote collaboration between stakeholders, and develop consortia to strengthen interest and expertise in metallurgical biochar.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to increase knowledge and acceptance of metallurgical biochar, which is essential for a fossil-free steel industry. By identifying stakeholders and mapping barriers to social acceptance, it aims to create sustainable value chains.
The final product of the feasibility study will be consortia and project plans to strengthen acceptance, competence supply and interest in working with metallurgical biochar, which favors a sustainable societal transition.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented in two parallel dialogue processes where industry players are invited. Each track includes a series of talks and workshops to identify the current situation, challenges and opportunities.
Social acceptance: Mapping barriers to social acceptance through workshops and interviews with stakeholders from civil society and industry.
Attractiveness: Dialogue with industry representatives to identify challenges around attractiveness and skills supply.
