Important results from the project
The project has to demonstrated new lightweight technology for encapsulating batteries in the form of battery modules cast in lightweight materials that have the physical properties required to encapsulate battery cells. Further development of the technology has been demonstrated where structural reinforcements of fiber composite have been integrated into the battery modules. The mechanical performance has been tested and constitutes dimensioning data when built into a battery pack. Demonstrators both with and without structural reinforcement have been developed
Expected long term effects
Good quality demonstrators, both with and without structural reinforcements of fiber composite, have been developed. The process technology has been further developed and taken to a level that capacity and process costs can be quantified in a production. A number of contacts, both potential customers and partners, have been able to be made during the project period. The need to be able to offer a complete product in the form of a lightweight battery pack together with partners has been identified to exploit the technology.
Approach and implementation
WP1: Dimensioning. Construction of demonstrator and test object was developed in collaboration. WP2: Process trials. Further development of process technology and tool design has been carried out continuously. Methods for integrating composite reinforcement locally in the details have been tested. Demonstrators both with and without structural reinforcement of fiber composite have been developed. WP3: Mechanical tests. Results for dimensioning data AP4: Evaluation. The collected results have been documented and shared by the participants and are treated confidentially.
