Important results from the project

The object of the project was further development of a technique to roll plates and strips to products with varying thickness over the strip width and use this in an industrial product. By technical calculations and verifying pilot tests the concept is taken one step forward toward industrial manufacturing. Further development is however necessary to reach the full potential of the technique.

Expected long term effects

By technical calculations and verifying pilot tests the project work has shown that there is potential in the technique. However technical challanges are still to be solved and development is o be done to find limitations and ways to overcome them.

Approach and implementation

in the project it has been very valuable to combine technical calculations and practical tests. To do the same investigations with only practical tests would have been very costly both regarding machinery as well as personnel and material. It is however necessary to do some practical tests to verify that the calculations are done with accurate preconditions. The project is well illustrating how development can be pushed forward by alternating calculations and practical tests.
