Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The goal of the project has been to carry out a practical feasibility study to investigate possible suitable & surface-efficient methods to clean stormwater from bridges.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Our work has demonstrated through practical tests that lamellar sedimentation technology with an engineered pre-sedimentation can be a suitable technique for cleaning stormwater from bridges/bridge paths. We expect within the next 1-2 years to build a first full-scale facility where this technology is used to clean stormwater from a bridge/bridge track.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** We have constructed a pilot-scale facility that has been tested with polluted water of the same character as storm water from roads/bridges. Tests with the mixing of larger particles in the polluted water have been carried out to simulate the prevailing conditions at "first flush", i.e. where high levels of pollution and larger particles normally occur. This has shown that pre-sedimentation is required to be a suitable method on a larger scale. Practical tests/analyses have been carried out on a pilot scale after collecting water from roads/bridges.
