Important results from the project
As far as the purely operational introduction is concerned, that goal has been met. When it comes to implementation in daily management and operation, work remains to be done. Partly verifications during regular traffic operations remains to be performed. Above all, both the economic as well as the contractual framework required to demonstrate that this is an efficient and economically effective system remains to be formulated.
Expected long term effects
The project has succeeded in acquiring, installing and commissioning the current state monitoring system. As far as verification is concerned, results have been partly obtained. In the case of discrete events, the system has been very useful for monitoring the track. In order to be able to carry out long-term and continuous assessment of condition where data form the basis of state or predictive maintenance, work remains to be done.
Approach and implementation
Procurement, installation and commissioning have largely proceeded according to plan. However, verification, analysis and evaluation and further implementation in daily management and operation have been considerably more difficult to achieve. This is partly due to reorganizations and staff changes, but also because of the complexity of economical and contractual issues.
