Project duration December 2015 - August 2016
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project is to describe the standardization process at Swedish (SIS), European (CEN) and global (ISO) level in order to transmit and disseminate knowledge on the functioning of the standardization work within InfraSweden2030 and its future calls and projects. The project will also map the standards in the infrastructure area and examine whether these supports innovation, inhibit and identify if there are gaps. Description of the standardization process and the international systems are described in the enclosed report.

Expected long term effects

When starting a new project there is a need to perform and implement a ´standard check´. The standard check may be performed by: -ensure not to work and innovate something that is already standardized -ensure if it is already underway standardization and if so, influence the ongoing work -identify whether any existing standard needs to be revised due to it prevent innovation -evaluate if a new Swedish / global standard will be developed to package the ´best practice´ in order to have faster market access and dissemination of new knowledge.

Approach and implementation

SIS, Swedish Standards Institute led the work and had a Steering Group, CBI Concrete Institute, the Swedish Transport Administration and Swedac. This project should be seen, along with a pair of other projects in the Infra Sweden in 2030, as tools and support future work in SIPen. The work consisted of a few different parts, description of how standardization system works in Sweden and on European level and globally by ISO. Added to this was the identification of standards and standards groups, which are reported in a separate report.
